Introducing Milewell: rule-based running plans

What Milewell is, what is free and what Premium adds, what does not exist yet, and how the rule-based planner works.

We are building a running training planner that starts from the miles you run now, builds gradually, and tells you honestly when a goal does not fit. Here is exactly what it does and what it does not.

What you get for free

  • A full plan for the 5K, 10K or half marathon. Answer six questions and get a week-by-week calendar with effort guidance for every run, and estimated pace ranges if you give a recent race.
  • Honest declines. If a gradual build cannot reach your goal in the weeks you have, the planner says why and suggests a later race or a shorter distance.
  • A free account. Save your plan, open it on any device, see it as a training calendar and log what you actually ran or skipped.
  • Four free calculators. A pace calculator, a race time predictor, a training pace calculator and a race readiness checker, all running in your browser.
  • Guides and analyses that explain how the planner works, with its rules read straight from the engine.

Premium (not on sale yet)

Premium is planned to add plan adjustments. When your logs show missed workouts or runs that felt too hard, Plan Check can suggest a lighter plan, and with Premium you would be able to apply it as a new saved version after you confirm. Adjustments only ease future sessions; they never rewrite what you already logged. Nothing can be bought today, and everything above stays free. The pricing page will say when that changes.

What does not exist yet

  • Premium purchases.
  • iOS and Android apps.
  • Marathon plans.
  • Run-walk interval structure, which the planner does not yet write.

One thing we want to be upfront about

The rules have not been reviewed by a coach or clinician. The planner is deliberately conservative, but its rules are planning heuristics, not proven injury-prevention thresholds. We say this on our method page and will say there when that review happens.

How the plans work

The planner is a deterministic, rule-based program. It contains no AI, and the same answers always produce the same plan. How It Works explains the rules, and How to read your training plan walks through a plan from top to bottom.

What is next

We are not announcing dates. We will post here when something real changes. In the meantime, the fastest way to see what we mean is to try it.
