Race readiness checker for 5K, 10K and half marathon

Pick a goal race, the weeks you have, and what you run now. The checker asks our planning engine whether it can build a plan that grows gradually from your current mileage to the goal, and explains why or why not.

Race readiness checker

Goal race

Whole weeks from now, 4 to 30.

Your average over the last 4 weeks.

Runs per week
Your running experience

Enter your weekly miles and choose your experience to see a result.

How to use it

It is a planning check against the engine's own rules. It is not a medical or fitness assessment, and it does not clear anyone to train or race.

  1. Choose your goal race and how many weeks you have.
  2. Enter your average weekly miles, how many runs a week, and your experience.
  3. Read the result, then send your numbers straight into the plan questionnaire if you want a full plan.

Limits you should know

  • It trusts what you enter. It cannot check your health, injury history or how your body responds to training.
  • It assumes regular runs of up to 60 minutes and a long run of up to 2 hours, on a typical spread of days. Your own plan will use your real schedule.
  • A "fits" result means the planner can build gradually to the goal under its rules. It does not predict that you will finish or run any particular time.
  • Talk to a doctor before starting a new training program, especially if you have a health condition, pain or an injury.

Questions about this tool

What does the checker actually do?

It runs the same planning engine as the plan builder with your numbers and reports whether it can build a gradual plan, how high weekly mileage and the long run reach, and what to change if it cannot.

What if it says the goal does not fit?

The result lists the reasons and suggests alternatives, such as a later race or a shorter distance. You can try a suggestion in the questionnaire.

Is a "fits" result a guarantee?

No. It means a gradual build is possible under conservative planning rules. Training is individual, and the checker cannot assess your health.
